권아람 / 공진화 /2 min 40 sec/2009 

 

‘공진화’는 인간 이면의 무수한 기억 조각들과 이변적인 요소들에 의해서 순간의 존재가 형성되는 것을 의미한다. 정신적 진화는 환경과의 상호작용을 일컫는 것이 아니라 인간본성이라는 동일한 집단 내의 각각의 개체가 갖는 소리가 충돌하면서 생기는 변화의 가능성에 초점을 둔다. 물리적으로 실재하는 ‘나’는 내면에 존재하는 수많은 ‘나’로부터 지시 받는 것인데, 우리는 마치 ‘나’가 단일하며 주체적인 존재라고 인식하는 오류를 범하고 있다.

'Coevolution' means formation of momentary existence by memories beyond number and mutable factors. Spiritual evolution would rather set its focus on the possibility of the change which create by conflicts of sounds from each independent entity than means the interaction with environment.'I' which really existing physically is dictated by countless 'I'in inner side, however, we fall into the error to consider that we are identified and independent existence.  
     
2009년 건국대 디자인 조형대학 광고영상 디자인과를 졸업하였고, 2회의 개인전과 2008년 대한민국 인재상을 수상했다. 현재 미디어 아티스트로 활동 중이다.

Graduated from Communication Design of Art and Design College, Kon-kuk University in 2009. 2 solo exhibitions and awarded Korea Young Talent Award in 2008.   

 

김용호 / 존 컨스터블의 ‘건초수레’연구 (study for the ‘hay wain’ by John Constable)

우리의 눈은 정지된 이미지보다 움직이는 사물에 민감하게 반응하는데, 이 영상에서는 전통적인 기법의 정지 이미지인 명화와 매체 예술로 대표되는 비디오 동영상을 한 화면에서 동시에 보여주면서 응시의 욕망을 유도한다. 제한된 크기의 돋보기 구멍으로 보이는 움직임은 정지된 이미지 바깥에 새로운 가상의 공간을 제공하고, 이 때 돋보기는 외부를 비추는 ‘창’의 역할을 하는 것이다.
전원 풍경을 담고 있는 존 컨스터블의 ‘건초 수레’는 자연과 인간의 조화로움을 찾고자 했던 대표적인 작품이다. 하지만 이 그림 위에 놓인 돋보기를 통해서 보여 지는 것은 개발이라는 인공적인 자연과 조화로움을 찾고자 끊임없이 변화하는 현대의 풍경이다.

Our eyes response against mobile objects than images be at stand stills. This video work induces the desire of staring with show a masterpiece which regards as an standstill image in traditional way and video moving picture that is, representative form of contemporary art at the same time on a screen. The movements which are show through the magnifying glass hole of restricted size provide new virtual space in the outward from standstill image and then, the magnifying glass take a role as an window reflects outward. 
‘Hay wain’ by John Constable is the representative masterpiece which had been searched harmony between nature and human. However, there would be shown the artificial landscape called development and the landscape at the present days which trying to figure out the harmony continually. 
 

홍익대학교를 졸업하고 파리 8대학을 다녔다. 다양한 수상 경력과 7회의 개인전 등 꾸준한 작업 활동을 하고 있다.

Graduated from Hong-ik University and attend Universite de Paris VIII. With many careers of solo exhibitions and awards, he works steadily. 

 

김재준 / 마트(Mart) / 2 min 05 sec / 2008

 

컴퓨터와 인터넷 없이는 사회가 유지되기 어려울 정도로 가상공간에서 생활하는 시간이 많아지고 있다. 이런 상황에서 가상과 현실에 대한 혼란을 겪는 것은 어쩌면 당연한 것이다. 이 영상에 등장하는 대형마트는 일종의 가상공간이 된다. 마트에서 펼쳐지는 게임은 현실과 가상을 결합하는 작업이다.

In these days, virtual reality is getting increased as much as even we can not support this society without computer and internet. Therefore, in this situation, it may no wonder that we've get confused between virtual and reality. The mart in the video in a sort of virtual space. The game in the mart is the combination between reality and virtual.

2009년 목원대학교 서양화과를 졸업하고, 두 번의 단체전에 참여한 젊은 작가이다. 판화와 영상 등 다양한 장르에 관심을 가지고 있다.

Graduated from fine art dep in Mok-won University. He is young artist who had 2 group exhibitions and interest on varied genres like print, video...etc. 

 

박진우 / Manual / 4min 32sec / 2009

 

계원조형예술대학 시간예술학과 졸업하고 MIEL에서 개인전과 아트 페어 등 다수의 단체전에 참여하였다.

이 작업은 작가 박진우가 어떻게 작업하는가에 대한 일종의 매뉴얼이다. 그것은 마치 샐러드를 만드는 방법처럼 일종의 레시피를 따르고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다.

PARK, Jin-woo / Manual / 4min 32sec / 2009

Graduated from time art dep in Kaywon College of Art and Design. He had solo exhibition at MIEL and has been participating in art fairs and group exhibitions.

This video work is a sort of manuel about how artist PARK, Jin-woo to work. We will realize that it is not different from following a recipe how to make salad.

 

변재규 / 925장의 부산타워 / 2min 58sec /2009

 

부산타워를 축으로 촬영된 925장의 사진은 판화에서의 ‘층’과 같은 물질의 흔적, 또는 영화에서의 시간성을 은유 하고 있고, 가상 공간의 ‘Z축(높이)’ 즉, 화면의 수직적인 구조에 비유될 수 있다. 부산타워(축)를 중심으로 일루전이 발생하고, 이러한 이미지의 변화와 움직임은 기억의 과정이 투사되고 반복되는 것이다.

The 925 photographies which took around Busan Tower as an axle are the metaphor of the traces like 'layers' in prints, or timing in movie and also can be compared to the vertical structurem that is 'Z(height)' in the virtual space. There occur the illusions around Busan Tower(axle), and these changes and mobility of images are the projecting and repeating of the progress of memory.     

현재 아트 팩토리 인 다대포 레지던시 프로그램에 참여하고 있으며, 쿄토 세이카 대학에서 박사과정 중에 있다.

Now he takes part in Art Factory in Dadaepo and attending in the course of Ph-d in Kyoto Seika University, Japan. 
 

 

이희원 / phone Tapping / 10min /2009

 

이 영상은 저녁에서 밤으로 이동하는 도시의 Tipping Point(모든 것이 변화하는 극적인 순간)를 잡아내는데, 이것은 오랜 시간 동안 아주 미세하고 서서히 이루어진다. 도시의 밤을 보여주는 영상 아래로 여러 목소리가 겹쳐서 들리는데, 이 목소리들은 마치 영혼이 전화 도청을 하는 듯이 들린다. 영혼은 도시의 이야기를 들려주며, 도시 풍경 속으로 관객들을 인도한다. 아마도 사람들은 같지만 다른 지점 혹은 새로운 심리적 공간에서 만나게 될 것이다. 도시의 밤과 빛 그리고 사적인 이야기들을 담아내고 있는 이 영상은 압도적인 밤의 풍경을 생산한다.

This video work shows Tipping Time(Dramatical moment of change)of the city from afternoon to night, it operated very minute and gradually. With the video work, there are several people's voices lapping over, sounds like phone tapping by ghost. Ghost tell us the tale of the city and induce us to the urban scape. People may encounter in the same but different spot or new mental area. This video work creats the overwhelming  landscape of the night which has the story of the night, light and private stories.   

프랑스 낭시 국립 보자르를 졸업하고, 현재 프레느와에 소속되어 있다. 한국에서는 소개되지 않았지만 프랑스에서 활발하게 활동을 진행 중이다.

Graduated from Ecole nationale superieure d'art de Nancy and belongs to Le Fresnoy. She has never been introduced in Korea, however, she works in France livelily.

 

정지숙 / 버려진 시선들의 재탄생 / 2 min 50 sec / 2009

 

매 순간들이 새로운 생각들로 가득 하고 그 새로운 생각들이 버려지는 것은 반복된다. 이러한 모티브를 이용하여 무의식적으로 찍은 여러 영상들 중 그 동안 잊고 있었던, 버려졌던 영상들을 찾아 그것들을 다시 조립하고, 결합하여 새로운 이야기를 만들어 낸다.

Every each moment is full of new thoughts and they abandoned repeatedly. From this motive, I created new tale deals with forgotten and abandoned video images which were took unconsciously through assembled and combined them.
 

정지숙은 애니메이터, 디자이너, 프랑스에서 아트 디렉터 등 다방면에서 활동을 했다. 멜번 국제영화제에서도 초청 상영되었고, 2006년 ‘파란유리 새’는 서울국제영화제에서 심사위원 특별상을 수상, 2008년 ‘검은 무지개’ 로 대종상영화제, ‘금지된 장난’으로 KT영상 공모전, ‘8 goals’ 광고영상은 미국 Millenium promise 공모전에서 대상 을 받았다.

Jung, Ji-sook is an animator, designer and art director in France. She were invited to the Melbourne International Film Festival, her work 'Blue Glass Bird' was granted for examinal special award in Seoul International Film Festival 2006, and also awarded 'Black Rainbow' in Daejong Film Awards 2008, 'Forbidden Games' in KT UCC competition and her commercial video '8 goals' win the grand prix in Millenium promise, USA. 

 

황아름 / 폴더비치, 폴더퍼즐 / 58 sec , 1min 9 sec / 2009

 

폴더퍼즐과 폴더비치는 컴퓨터의 기능들을 이용한 놀이 개념의 작업이다. 폴더비치 영상에서 폴더 이름에는 감정이나 느낌들, 일상 생활의 경험들이 기입되어 있는데, 이것들은 모두 휴지통으로 들어간다. 폴더퍼즐은 생활의 경험들을 폴더로 만들어 클릭을 하면 여러 개의 문장이 되어 새로운 의미들을 만들어낸다. 이 영상들은 도구가 갖는 원래 기능에 대한 전환을 시도하고 있고, 젊은 작가다운 참신한 아이디어를 보여준다. 
 

Folder Puzzle and Folder Beach is the work with the game concept using computer functions. On the Folder Beach, there is the folders which have the each name like emotion, feeling and experience in daily life and they put into the trash box. Folder Puzzle is the folders created with the experiences in daily life and if we click them, they became several sentences and create new meanings. This video attempt the conversion from original functio and shows us fresh idea as an young artist. 

찰리한 / Untitled Identity / 4min 28 sec /2008

 

이 영상은 미국 사회에서 도상적인 인물들의 목소리를 차용한다. 빌 클린턴, 조지 부쉬, 마틴 루터 킹, 존 웨인, 클라크 게이블, 알 파치노, 톰 크루즈 등은 미국문화의 도상이라고 할 수 있다. 이들의 목소리는 화면 속 인물의 연기를 통해 씽크 된다. 이들이 화면 속 인물에게 목소리가 이입될 때, 한글 문법의 순서대로 배열된 자막이 등장한다. 이 영상은 이민 1.5세대의 작가가 미국의 미디어가 생산하는 일방적인 방식을 비판적으로 성찰하고 유머러스하게 제시하고 있는 작업이다.

I borrow audio clips of culturally iconic people in America. Their voices are in sync with my act in video assimilating them such as Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Martin Luther King, Jr., John Wayne, Clark Gable, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, and others whose voices may be recognized easily to Americans and even international viewers. While synchronizing voices of well-known American people into myself in the video, the sound is being interpreting to Korean text caption which grammatical order is awkward from English language.
My video shows modes of reception and interpretation of American culture with the consequences that my Korean-American identity becomes complex. It is to explore toidentify my individuality as an 1.5-generation Korean-American artist whose cultural heritage is distinctly ambilateral.

이민 1.5세대인 작가는 타우슨대에서 예술학을 전공하고 메릴랜드 미술대학을 졸업했다. 전시와 특강 등 한국과 미국을 오가며 활발한 활동을 하고 있다.

He is an immigrant and studied in Fine Art in Towson University and graduated from University of Maryland Department of Fine Arts. He works in Korea and USA as an artists and lecturer.
